Beaches & Water Activities

If only we had the guaranteed summers, I don’t think there would be many places in the world that could compete with the incredible coastline that we have to offer here in Pembrokeshire. Which ever direction you head you will tend to end up near the coast.

Also please note – dogs are welcome at pretty much all of our beaches throughout Pembrokeshire but please be aware during the warmer months some do tend to put restrictions on the beaches. So, it would be worth checking before heading out with your dog for the day (Please refer to our Dog Friendly Activities section for more information)

The closest of the beaches would be Broad Haven (4.1 miles) and Little Haven (3.8 miles). Both of these beaches you will be able to have a spot to eat or just an ice cream if that’s what you fancy.

Golf Courses

The closest Golf course is located just 5.1 miles in Milford Haven. Its wonderful greens overlook the Cleddau Estuary.

Haverfordwest Golf Club is located 6.2 miles from us. Tenby Links Championship Course is further afield but definitely worth a visit (19 miles).

For just a little bit of fun there is a driving range in Freystrop, Haverfordwest (6.4 miles) Mayfield Golf Centre.

Castles & Cathedrals

Galleries & Museums

Scolton Manor:
Located in Haverfordwest is a great family place to visit, it has wonderful walks through the woods, play areas for children, a café for a bite to eat but most importantly is known for it being a beautiful Victorian Manor House which they have a Museum inside.

Milford Haven Heritage and Maritime Museum:
This museum opened in 1991 and heavily focuses on the maritime history of the town of Milford Haven. It also has exhibitions which explore the fishing and oil industry that we have around the area. This is usually a great hit with visitors to the Milford Haven area.

Tenby Museum and Art Gallery:
This is the oldest independent Museum in Wales. It is a great place to spend some time if your out and about visiting the Tenby area.
Narberth Museum:
This is a great place for you to be able to discover more about the people and place that made Narberth the ancient market town that it is. Narberth is also a wonderful town to visit for a look around their lovely little shops and a lovely spot for lunch or dinner.

The Last Invasion Tapestry in Fishguard:
Why not pop along and see what happened when the British mainland was invaded for the last time in 1797. Showing story boards and artefacts to help recreate the day.

Family Adventures

Walks

It is obviously a given with our location that the majority of our best walks will revolve around our beautiful coastline. After all Pembrokeshire’s Coastal Path runs an incredible 186 miles, stretching from St Dogmaels though to Amroth.

Here are some walk ideas to give you a little food for thought:

White Sands Bay to St Davids Head
Porthgain to Abereiddi
Lawrenny
Bosheston Lilly Ponds
Marloes Sands Peninsula
Freshwater East to Swanlake Bay
Dinas Island
Stackpole to St Govans Head
Broad Haven to Newgale Sands
Mynydd Carningli, Newport.
Saundersfoot to Wisemans Bridge
Whitesands to St David’s

Island Visiting

Skomer Island Landing Trip:
In just 15 minutes you can experience one of the most incredible wildlife experiences in Britain. A day of adventure and you definitely don’t want to miss the chance of seeing the beautiful Puffins, Guillemots and Razorbills.

Skomer Island is open from the 1st of April through to the 30th September but is closed on Mondays. Landing trips go daily from Martins Haven at 10am, 11am and 12 noon.
Boat Cruise & Sea Safaris:
If you were wanting to experience a low speed option, giving you an on board expert crew why not look into going on a Skomer Cruise, the Seabird Spectacular or the Grasshom Cruise. You really won’t be disappointed.

If you’re looking for something a little more high speed then the sea safari is for you. They will take you on one of their high-speed ribs where you to get to go out on the open ocean, see the most beautiful wildlife and scenery with a little more excitement.

Is another option on the cinema front but this is based in Haverfordwest.
